Bright light focused on dark corners

One of the best mystery/thrillers of 2020 will be “The Dark Corners of the Night” by Meg Gardiner. I make this prediction without fear. All the rest of us: This is gonna be the one to beat.

“Dark Corners” is the third in Meg’s newest series, following “UNSUB” and “Into the Black Nowhere,” which star cop-turned-FBI agent Caitlin Hendrix. Meg also is the author of stand-alone mysteries, as well as series starring Jo Beckett and Evan Delaney. (Spoiler: One of whom makes a guest appearance in “Dark Corners.” Making this … well, not the Buffyverse. The Megoverse? Okay, I’m gonna work on that.)

To my mind, this is her best series to date.

“Dark Corners” is smart and extremely well researched, with a deep dive into details ranging from psychosis to nifty burglary hacks. The pace is relentless; reading this book will give you a caffeine buzz.

Full disclosure: The book is from my house, Blackstone Publishing. They sent me an advance copy, which is why I can rave about the best mystery of 2020 here in 2019. (The creepy and wonderful cover is by Djamika Smith, who worked on my last novel cover, too, along with K. Jones.)

“The Dark Corners of the Night” will be released Feb. 18. It can be pre-ordered at any of the sites listed on my Home page, above, or by going to Meg’s site. Note:  Pre-orders help drive subsequent sales and publicity. If you love an author’s work, pre-orders are a great way to show the love.

Most highly recommended.
